In this video, I discuss the recent debates regarding aim assist within the Fortnite community. After Tfue and Cloak each tweeted about aim assist and controller players, the community has once again become split over whether aim assist is overpowered or not. This is not the first time the discussion has come up, and I talk about the history of aim assist debates within the community. It started originally after Ghost Aydan started outplaying many keyboard and mouse pro players at PAX West (at the end of the summer skirmish). People noticed he was using L2 spam to reset aim assist and help him track his targets more easily. Reddit threads and pro players on Twitter began calling controller players out and bashing aim assist by saying it was too strong, especially L2 spamming. Epic tried to nerf aim assist in Patch 7.40 but quickly reverted it after realizing it would hurt controller players, who are already at a huge disadvanatage to keyboard and mouse players, more than they originally intended. Since then, the aim asisst debate hasn't come up and most people have agreed that while spamming L2 is extremely strong, nerfing aim assist would be too detrimental to controller player. That is until Tfue and Cloak tweeted last week during the World Cup qualifiers...
