5 Players Arsenal Should Sign - in the Summer Transfer Window!

5 Players Arsenal Should Sign - in the Summer Transfer Window! 5 Players Arsenal Should Sign - in the Summer Transfer Window! Having been humiliated by Eden Hazard’s Chelsea in Baku to compound their disappointment of missing out on the top four, what do Arsenal need to do in order to improve next season?

It was clear throughout last season that Arsenal need to improve at the back. Even with Lucas Torreira screening, The Gunners still looked vulnerable defensively - and need to massively improve on the likes of Shkodran Mustafi if they’re to get back to where they want to be. Unai Emery’s side has been linked to Joachim Andersen recently and the Sampdoria ball-playing centre back would make a lot of sense as a signing for Arsenal. Whilst the Danish defender has issues defensively, he’s still just 23 and is excellent on the ball, possessing a much better passing range than any CB currently within Arsenal’s ranks. His teammate, Dennis Preat, is also rumoured to be on his way to North London.

Arsenal reportedly have a longstanding interest in Celtic’s Kieran Tierney, and could look to move for the left back in the coming weeks. Kieran Tierney is much more adaptable than Sead Kolasinac in that he’s happy to play in a back four or a back three - which is something that Unai Emery would value. Emery’s best sides have always had very attacking full-backs, and Bellerin and Tierney feels like the kind of pairing that the Spanish tactician would feel he could go on to achieve big things with. The boyhood Celtic fan could be reluctant to leave Glasgow, however Tierney represents much better value than Arsenal’s other reported left-back targets (Ben Chilwell for example) and so the club should be doing everything that they can to bring him in this summer.

On the opposite flank, Arsenal have been linked with PSG’s out-of-favour right back Thomas Meunier. The Belgian international is reportedly on Man Utd’s shortlist alongside the likes of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Max Aarons and Elseid Hysaj - but Arsenal are also interested and could make Meunier their priority on the right. Meunier is an excellent attacking full-back and is capable of playing as a right-sided right back in a back five. With Hector Bellerin returning, though, it’s a question of whether or not Meunier would be happy to move with no guarantee of becoming Arsenal’s first-choice RB. On the other hand, Arsenal’s patchy backline could see him pick up minutes across the defense and ultimately finally play a full season. Yannik Carrasco is the last name on our list, as it is clear that Unai Emery’s side is massively lacking in wide talent and Carrasco can reportedly return to European football on a cut-price this summer. The former Atletico Madrid man has put up ridiculous numbers in the Chinese Super League and Arsenal could be tempted to take a risk, especially given that he’s just entering into his prime years.
