How to Choose the Right Anchor for Your Boat | BoatUS

How to Choose the Right Anchor for Your Boat | BoatUS If you're an old salt, feel free to move along. This Anchor 101 video is for newer boaters. BoatUS Magazine's Lenny Rudow heads over to his local West Marine store to show you a few different styles of anchors. He'll teach you the different parts and what they do. How do you know which one is right for you, your boat type, boat size, and where you boat? He'll cover that, too. (Hint: Talk to one of the friendly staff members at your local marine store.)

Lenny covers everything from Danforth anchors and plow anchors to claw anchors. He talks about the different parts of an anchor including flukes, stock, shank, and eye ring. Lenny even discusses how to attach an anchor rode and chain and how to seize the pin so it doesn't come undone.

You won't be learning HOW to use an anchor or how they work in this video, but we have those on our channel, too. Stay tuned!
