A fresh triple talaq bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha by Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, amid protests from the opposition. The bill, which penalises the pronouncement of instant divorce by Muslim men, proposing a jail term of three years, has previously been passed in the Lok Sabha but faced resistance in the Rajya Sabha. AIMIM Chief, Asaduddin Owaisi said that the triple talaq bill introduced by the law minister puts the burden of proof on women while her husband would be in jail for three years for pronouncing instant triple talaq. He said the Supreme Court has declared instant triple talaq void meaning the marriage does not end by such pronouncements.
