N. Korea negative towards receiving 50,000 tons of rice aid from Seoul: Unification Ministry

통일부 "北, 쌀지원 5만톤 수령에 부정적 입장... 한미훈련이 이유"

North Korea has recently shown a negative response toward receiving 50-thousand tons of rice aid from South Korea, citing Seoul's upcoming joint military exercise with the U.S.
According to Seoul's Unification Ministry, the North expressed its stance to the World Food Programme at a recent working-level meeting... and Seoul learned of it through its consultations with the WFP.
However, Seoul says the North has not announced its final stance yet... and the WFP is looking to clarify the North's position.
The South Korean government says it still hopes to deliver the rice as soon as possible.
