Bach, 'Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring' バッハ「主よ、人の望みの喜びよ」

“Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” the well-known transcription of the chorale from Bach’s cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (“Heart and Mouth and Deed and Life”). The text describes the believer’s intention to never leave Jesus and the joy He gives, and Bach sets this beautifully to music by weaving one melody (essentially never leaving this melody) throughout the chorale.
バッハによるカンタータHerz und Mund und Tat und Leben（「心と口と行いと生活で」）から、有名なコラールの編曲である「主よ、人の望みの喜びよ」。その歌詞は、喜びを与える主イエスから、またその喜びから絶対に離れないという、彼を信じる者の願いと信仰を表している。バッハはそれを、コラール全体を通して一つのメロディーに託して（事実、終わりまでこのメロディーから離れずに）、見事に音楽に織り込んでいる。
