Justice Minister announces intention to modernise abortion law

Justice Minister announces intention to modernise abortion law Justice Minister Andrew Little has announced a bill to modernise our abortion law. The bill will see it removed from the Crimes Act and treated as a health issue. This means a woman will only have to consult her health practitioner and can self-refer to an abortion service. There won't be a test to see if abortion is the right option unless the woman is more than 20 weeks pregnant. The bill will have its first reading in parliament this Thursday and any new legislation will be a conscience vote.
