This tutorial is about the functionalities and clinical added value of Smart Ventilation Control (SVC), a software option of Drägert Zeus IE anaesthesia machine which supports clinicians in complying with recommendations to protect the lungs of surgical patients. SVC can assist the clinican to manage a seamless transition from mechanical to spontaneous ventilation during general anaesthesia. The clinican determines the target ventilation range only via two settings and it can automatically reduce the ventilator support from pure controlled ventilation until extubation. This enables an easy and time saving application of lung protective ventilation for surgical patients.
