Moon lander 'Vikram' is scheduled for a powered-descent between 1 am and 2 am on September 7, followed by touch down of Lander between 1:30 am and 2:30 am.
The mission objective of Chandrayaan 2 is to develop and demonstrate the key technologies for end-to-end lunar mission capability, including soft-landing and roving on the lunar surface.
On successful completion, it will make India the fourth country after Russia, the US and China to soft-land on the Moon.
Chandrayaan-2, India's second mission to the Moon, is set to land near the lunar south pole early tomorrow. Chandrayaan-2's lander Vikram is currently revolving around the Moon and will begin its descent on to the lunar surface shortly after midnight. The lander Vikram houses the six-wheeled rover Pragyaan that will explore the lunar surface for around 14 Earth days.
