Pakistan PM Imran Khan Addresses Nation on Kashmir Crisis Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan announced, in a televised speech, that his government will go to any extent in supporting the Kashmiri people in efforts aimed at getting independence from India, Monday, August 26. Khan also urged the UN and other world powers to take notice of the human rights violations in Indian-controlled Kashmir after New Delhi stripped the region of its autonomy. He said he will raise the issue of Kashmir when he addresses the UN General Assembly on September 27 and asked his countrymen to hold demonstrations to express solidarity with Kashmiri people on coming Friday. U.S. President Donald Trump said during a bilateral meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the G7 summit that he had no need to help mediate between Pakistan and India over tensions in disputed Kashmir because Prime Minister Narendra Modi feels he has it "under control."
