7 Questions with the Founder of Ethical Concept Shop - Galerie.LA | Eco-Stylist

7 Questions with the Founder of Ethical Concept Shop - Galerie.LA | Eco-Stylist I’m a huge fan of Galerie.LA and I recently visited their store in Los Angeles to chat with founder, Dechel Mckillian. This one is for the ladies looking for sustainable women's brands.

Galerie.LA is an ethical concept shop online and at the ROW, DTLA in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. They curate all women’s sustainable fashion and lifestyle goods from emerging brands worldwide.

Dechel developed their sustainable badge system back in 2015 to highlight if brands are Artisan, Eco-Friendly, Ethical, Local, Recycled, & Vegan. All of their brands have to be Ethical plus one or more of the other badges.

Here’s the interview breakdown:

1. What is the Galerie.LA? 0:10
2. How did you get into sustainable fashion? 0:25
3. What does sustainable mean to you? 1:35
4. At Galerie.LA, does ethical fall under the umbrella of sustainable? 3:07
5. Is the display behind us representative of your badge system? 3:35
6. Has your store been here since 2015? 4:06
7. Can you show us your unisex and men’s options that you carry in store? 4:20

Notable Quotes from our conversation:

“I don’t believe if a brand is using sustainable without the ethical standard that it is truly sustainable.”

“The social with the environmental has to go hand-in-hand.”
