Spoiler coming right up, but I'm afraid to say that it's not going to be joining the garage. However, let's have a run through it all starting with the name, Elva, after the McLaren-Elva M1A, M1B and M1C sports cars of the 1960s, the new model is a two-seat roofless hypercar. 399 units will be built of the Elva which is powered by a 4.0l TT V8 with 815hp and 800nm so 0-200km/h (124mph) is just 6.7s, quicker even than the McLaren Senna due to the drag caused by having a rear wing and the additional weight of the roof. The Elva is the lightest McLaren Automotive model ever, although figures for the exact kg still to be confirmed.
For me the biggest consideration is the price point, at £1.425m it's the same as my Senna + Ford GT + £155k extra so I'd have to clear out the garage for it and that would never make sense as I'm a big fan of different driving experiences. While it's not literally the same car, there are similarities with the Senna and to me that would detract having the two side by side rather than looking for something more different.
Nonetheless, until there's an opportunity to see the car in person, let's go through what we know so far and some of the information about it, including a few tid bits you might not have come across so far.
Thanks for watching, Tim
