COYAME, CHIHUAHUA | A Trip to My Grandparent's Hometown

We begin our new adventure by crossing the Juarez border, driving through Chihuahua to the beautiful town of Coyame. We planned it perfectly so that we would be in town for their annual fiesta Patronales de Nuestra Señora de Pilar, a week long celebration that has people returning to the small town to reconnect with family and celebrate the more than 300 year old town.

We take you with us on a tour of the town and some of the things you can see and do in the area, as well as show you how this town likes to celebrate their annual festival. Which includes a “callejonada”, rodeo, carnival and nightly dance to name a few. We are already looking forward to our next trip back, it’s that great of an experience.

We also take a tour of a local Sotol distillery. Sotol is specific to Chihuahua and since we had a blast drinking it at the callejonada the tour was a great way to understand a bit of its history and the processes of making this town favorite.
