Asia, home to billions of consumers and a majority of the world’s technology supply chains, will be at the forefront of this new power struggle. Asian countries that are relying on these technologies to create new social and economic opportunities will have to navigate a new geopolitical contest for leadership in emerging technologies: “geo-tech”. Will their response also be shaped by the raw exertion of state power? Or can Asian communities script a more multilateral and multi-stakeholder ethic for this new era?
