This is My Brave High School Pilot debuted in November 2019 featuring high school students from Hershey PA who are sharing their stories to bring awareness to students about mental illness and the implications of stigma surrounding them through storytelling, while incorporating measures of mental health literacy in young adults. The High School Pilot was a compilation of individual storytellers, a student voice section, and an expert panel discussion featuring Amber M. Sessoms, Ed.D (School Psychologist, Central Dauphin High School), Sharon Engdahl (Executive Director, American Mental Wellness Association), and Shawna Brent, M.D. (Board Certified Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist).
This Is My Brave, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization ( is the leading platform for individuals to share their stories of living successful lives despite a diagnosis of a mental health disorder through artistic expression (spoken word poetry, original music and essay readings) on stage in front of a live audience. We're opening up the conversation about mental health disorders in communities all across the country and beyond via our YouTube channel.
We're shining a light on mental illness because it has been in the dark too long. We're ending mental illness stigma, one person and one brave story at a time.
