Autographed portraits, vinyl records and posters of Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing adorn the walls of a back-alley cafe on Chunxi Road in Chengdu in China’s southwestern province of Sichuan.
The cafe is a tribute to the Hong Kong actor and singer, where customers can sip chocolate coffee bearing the visage of the entertainment icon, who died more than 16 years ago.
The establishment illustrates how Cheung’s enduring legacy has moved beyond Hong Kong to enthrall Chinese-speaking audiences on the mainland, as well as across Asia and around the world.
