Past Tense [BRAWL 2019]

The theme of Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long 2019 was "trapped," and the mod element colors (pairs of bricks required to verify the run was completed during the contest) were black and white. Three things immediately became apparent to me.

1. I did not want to interpret the theme in a literal, physical sense.

2. The mod element colors lent themselves to a black and white film.

3. "Trapped" could refer to the present...or the past.

Past Tense was born out of these thoughts. The entire film is done with black, dark grey, light grey, and white bricks, meaning I shot the black and white effect in-camera instead of doing any color correction. Makes for a cool effect.

Unfortunately I didn't have or give myself the time to get the film exactly where I wanted, but it's serviceable. I hope you enjoy and maybe even take something away from the film.
