Autumn is here and visitors from all over the world can experience one of the most beautiful and scenic train lines in Sri Lanka – built by CRRC. The new trains will be used on the tracks that wind through the high mountains, running from the capital Colombo to Kandy, Badulla, Matale and other areas.
The new trains are tailor-made according to Sri Lanka’s climatic route conditions and operational needs, and will further enhance the quality of future trains as the country inherits the technical advantages of these new vehicles. The train has a top speed of 120 km/h and is divided into several carriage types, such as business class, economy class, and even economy class with a snack bar. Compared with the old trains, these new train have added passenger information systems, LCD TVs, headphone jacks, seat charging sockets, and multi-purpose toilets for those with special needs.
Sri Lanka is known as the country with the most beautiful train lines. There are two famous lines – the “mountain train” that runs through the alpine tea garden, and the the “sea train” that runs along the coast. Currently, Sri Lanka's trains are mainly from China, and we hope this new batch of higher quality trains will provide a more comfortable ride for locals and visitors alike.
