You go and buy real estate with a mortgage because you hope the tenant will pay the mortgage. You put money in an IRA or a 401k because you hope you will get a return on your investment. It's all based on preconceived notions of risk that we hope are correct. But one thing is for sure, every investment has an element of risk, and acknowledging that is important.
Think very closely about the investments you are making and where you are putting your money. Are your investments truly as safe as you think they are?
