Hogan Comments on Thin Blue Line Flag Controversy

Hogan Comments on Thin Blue Line Flag Controversy The debate over the Thin Blue Line flag continued at the opening of the new Biomedical Sciencing and Engineering Building at the Universities at Shady Grove on Thursday.

Gov. Larry Hogan, who was at the grand opening in Rockville, commented on Elrich’s decision to ban the flag from being displayed at Montgomery County police stations. Hogan told reporters Thursday that this issue has become “far left nonsense.”

On Monday, Elrich said at a press conference that the flag has been appropriated by the Blue Lives Matter movement as an attack on the Black Lives Matter movement.

A number of community members showed up at the grand opening to show, waving Thin Blue Line Flags, to show Hogan they appreciated his defense of the controversial flag. David Gannon, one of those waving the flag, called the Thin Blue Line flag a symbol of support for police officers.

“It’s not a symbol of racism, it never has been, and that’s what it’s being painted as recently,” said Gannon.
“The flag provides a symbol of support to some, but it is a symbol of dismissiveness to others. Because it is divisive, the flag will not be posted at the 5th District nor in any public space within the Police Department. Under my administration, we are committed to improving police relations with the community and will immediately address any action that stands against our mission,” said Montgomery County Executive, Marc Elrich.

Meanwhile, Gov. Larry Hogan says he disagrees with County Executive Marc Elrich, and here's what he had to say about it…
