Meanwhile, Ford v Ferrari is the kind of mainstream crowdpleaser that could land a nomination, as could Greta Gerwig's adaptation of Little Women. And don't count out the Korean-language thriller Parasite, A24's The Farewell, Sam Mendes' war epic 1917 and Clint Eastwood's Richard Jewell, not to mention the 800-pound gorilla in the room -- Joker, which has grossed more than $900 million worldwide. Jeff also feels it would be unwise to count out films like Queen and Slim, Just Mercy and Waves, which could benefit from the Academy's recent diversity push.
Are voters more likely to embrace Netflix movies, a Korean genre movie, or a comedy about Nazis?
