Andrew Yang not relying on debates to reach voters

(6 Dec 2019) In a wide ranging interview with The Associated Press in Chicago Thursday, Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang says his "21st century" modern campaign is reaching voters through podcasts and outreach on the ground, so it isn't as reliant on qualifying for the next debate as other campaigns.

Yang says that what's happening in the debate field is essentially a reflection of how the US economy works.

"It's a very tough truth that running for president is a lot easier if you have certain resources at your disposal. And, unfortunately, there are very few people of color who have a billion dollars lying around in the back (laughs) who can run for president," Yang said.
