Hundreds of people gathered in Edinburgh Place in Central, Hong Kong on December 6 to rally against the use of tear gas. A protester group surveyed 17,000 people exposed to the smoke, some of whom said they suffered rashes, diarrhoea and coughed up blood. Officials have repeatedly dismissed fears that tear gas is toxic.
